Meet the Men and Women Who Make Engage Awesome!

Michael and Stephanie Wilkerson, Lead Pastor & Connections Pastor

Michael and Stephanie launched Engage Church in 2014.

With a heart for people, Michael makes everyone he meets feel welcome.  He is genuinely interested in people, and his heart for them is as big as his frame (6’6” and 200+).  Stephanie is passionate about many things including teaching others who they are in Christ, coffee, sleep, and lots of snuggle time with their three boys who are practically experts in all things Star Wars, Marvel, or Steelers football. (There’s a lot of testosterone in the Wilkerson home, so pray for them - specifically Steph.)

Betsy Spring, Executive & Worship Pastor

Betsy doesn’t meet strangers. She has an infectious laugh and quirky sense of humor that make her fast friends with anyone that crosses her path. Betsy’s a hugger that will unashamedly cry at weddings, movies, birthday parties, you name it. Betsy and her husband Keino have been married since April of 2000 and they share life with their three children, affectionately known as the ‘Spring Trio’. Betsy lives for the moments she can have alone with a piano and firmly believes that everyone should use their voices. All of us at Engage are the lucky recipients of not just her voice, but her heart and passion for people.

Jair and Layna Tapia, Youth Pastors

Jair and Layna make a great team. Having grown up in Mexico, Jair came to the states for college, not knowing more than 20 words in English. It was when he moved to Memphis and met this beautiful girl from Indiana, that he suddenly became very motivated to learn English and ask that girl out. Lucky for him, she said yes. Jair and Layna have kind of an addiction to Avengers movies. Layna's favorite superhero is Hawkeye and Jair's is Thor. In fact, he thinks that he looks like him. (You'd have to ask Layna if she agrees.) With hearts for serving others and specifically students, they lead the youth at Engage with passion and energy and we are thrilled they are a part of our family.
